Investigative Journalism in a Digital Age: This 5-day residential training by NIMJN equips journalists to investigate social justice and human rights issues in the digital age. Led by national and international experts, this production-focused workshop envisions participants plan and produce fair amount of their investigative stories during the training. From OSINT and AI to LGBTQIA+ rights and Migration, Video Storytelling to Data Cleaning, we provide the skills and tools to make your reporting rigorous, ethical, and high-impact.

Date: February 7 – 11, 2026  

Curriculum & Learning Objectives: The training curriculum is designed to bridge technical proficiency with high-impact storytelling. Key sessions include:

• Accountability & Tech

• Specialized Reporting

• Data Mastery

• Inclusion & The Margins

• Multimedia storytelling (Video/Audio) and strategic distribution for social media (Reels/TikTok).

• Journalist Safety: Physical/digital risk assessment, ethics, and mental wellbeing.

• Production Engine: Generating story hypotheses and daily "Guided Story Work" blocks to finalize investigative drafts.

Day 1 – Day 4: Full-day Intensive Sessions (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) including Guided Story Work

Day 5: Final Production, Story Sharing, and Closing (9:00 AM to 1:00 PM).

Interested journalists are invited to apply for this intensive residential training. To register, please complete the application form below in either English or Nepali. We encourage applicants to provide detailed responses to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of their story proposals. Note: Whether your story proposal is accepted or not, the confidentiality of the story will be maintained.

*This training is free and has only limited seats available. If selected, the participants will have to commit fully to the five days of training, and will have to stay all the nights in the provided accommodation as it is a residential training.

डिजिटल युगमा खोजमूलक पत्रकारिता : निमजिनको आयोजनामा हुन लागेको ५ दिने आवासीय तालिमले पत्रकारहरूलाई डिजिटल मिडिया र मानव अधिकारका विविध आयामहरूमा खोजमूलक रिपोर्टिङ गर्न सक्षम बनाउनेछ। यो तालिमकै क्रममा सहभागीले एउटा खोजमूलक स्टोरी उत्पादनमा काम गर्नु पर्ने छ । सहभागीले OSINT र AI देखि LGBTQIA+ अधिकार र आप्रवासनका मुद्दामा गर्ने रिपोर्टिङ तथ्यपरक, नैतिक र उच्च-प्रभावकारी बनाउन आवश्यक डिजिटल टुल्स र सीप यो तालिमबाट पाउने छन् । 

यस तालिममा सहभागी हुन इच्छुक पत्रकारहरूले तलको आवेदन फारम नेपाली वा अंग्रेजी भाषामा भर्नुहोला। तालिमका दौरान सहभागीले खोजमूलक स्टोरीमा काम गर्नु पर्ने हुँदा तपाईँले आवेदनमा आफ्नो स्टोरी प्रस्ताव (Story Proposal) पनि पेश गर्नुपर्ने छ । आफ्नो प्रस्तावको सही मूल्याङ्कन सुनिश्चित गर्नका लागि स्टोरीको पूर्ण विवरण उपलब्ध गराउनुहुन अनुरोध गरिन्छ। ( नोट : तपाईँको स्टोरी प्रस्ताव स्वीकार भए पनि र नभए पनि स्टोरीको गोपनियता कायम राखिने छ ।)

प्रशिक्षणका मुख्य विषयहरू: यस तालिमको पाठ्यक्रम प्राविधिक दक्षता र प्रभावकारी 'स्टोरी टेलिङ'लाई जोड्ने गरी तयार पारिएको छ। मुख्य सत्रहरूमा निम्न विषयहरू समावेश हुनेछन्:

• प्रविधि र जवाफदेहिता 

• विशेषीकृत रिपोर्टिङ

• डाटा दक्षता

• समावेशीकरण र सीमान्तकृत मुद्दा

• मल्टिमिडिया स्टोरीटेलिङ (भिडियो/अडियो) का साथै सामाजिक सञ्जाल (Reels/TikTok) मा स्टोरी शेयरिङका लागि रणनीति विकास 

• पत्रकार सुरक्षा: भौतिक तथा डिजिटल जोखिम मूल्याङ्कन, आचारसंहिता र मानसिक स्वास्थ्य।

• उत्पादन अभ्यास: स्टोरी परिकल्पना (Hypothesis) निर्माण र खोजमूलक मस्यौदालाई अन्तिम रूप दिन दैनिक स्टोरी लेखन सहजीकरण सत्रहरू।

प्रस्तावित समयतालिका:

• पहिलो दिनदेखि चौथो दिनसम्म: पूर्ण-दिवसीय सत्रहरू (बिहान ९  साँझ ५ बजेसम्म), निर्देशित स्टोरी लेखनसहित।

• पाँचौँ दिन: अन्तिम उत्पादन, स्टोरी प्रस्तुतीकरण र समापन (बिहान ९ देखि दिउँसो १:३० बजेसम्म)

*यो तालिम आवासीय भएको हुँदा छनोट भएका सबै पत्रकारहरूलेआयोजकले व्यवस्था गरेको आवासमा बसेर तालिमका सबै सत्रमा सहभागी हुनुपर्ने छ । यो तालिम नि:शुल्क हो र सिट सिमित छ ।
